• The direction and policies of council represent the vision and the wishes of our communities.
• Council budget allocation and decision making reflects the needs and requirements of each area in accordance with fairness and equity.
• Ensure a comprehensive, transparent and fully disclosed audit of the regions finances and state of infrastructure so both the community and council’s future planning and decision making is based on informed debate.
• Secure adequate water supply for our region.
• Development of a policy that defines a councillor’s role and responsibilities inclusive of a performance criterion which would be annually assessed and disclosed.
• Strengthen Councillor code of conduct to lift the standard and expectations of Councillor behaviour.
• Seek Council support to approach the Federal and State Governments to stop the building of the Traveston Dam.

The community’s vision is achieved through corporate and policy documents that determine principles, processes, limitations and the agenda within which Council can function.

I will lead a Council that embraces public comment and ensures public opinion forms the basis of Council policy and direction by recommending:-

• That council produces a public timetable for the developing of policies and corporate documents in which public comment are required. Promotion, explanation and education with regard to the process and issues will foster interest and your participation.
• Councillors adopt a policy for extra Council meetings of the entire elected members to meet in the major centres outside of Hervey Bay and Maryborough to increase community access to their elected representatives.
• Council statutory meetings are held alterative weeks between Maryborough and Hervey Bay city centres.
• The formulation and adoption of a councillor responsibilities and duties policy that includes: stipulation of work duties and annual leave; meeting requirements and obligations; formulised community engagement; Councillor duty roster for public consultation; Councillor reporting obligations at community meetings and at forums outside council.
• Public consultation in the development of the Councillor code of conduct that will deliver the expectations of the community.
